Two very special new kids clubs havelaunched in East Ren this week as parents’ decide there is a gap in provision.
East Ren Parents Action Group (ERA) is a parent run group for families within East Ren who have a child/family member with additional support needs.
Set up and constituted in 2015 by a small group of parents who have chilldren with specific support needs the organisation has gone from strength to strength in a very short time.
The group have set up ERA Teenies (0-school age) and ERA Juniors (primary school ages) for children with additional support needs and their families and friends.
The organisations purpose was to provide more support to parents and family members locally, and to liase with professional services such as speech and language services, local councillors, educational psychology, schools and nurseries so as to work together to promote better services, acceptance,awareness and understanding within the local area.
ERA are also running parent support group meetings , the next will be held on Friday, April 22 from 9.30am-12.30pm when the guest speaker will be Kirsten Oswald MP. The meeting takes place in Barrhead Museum on Barrhead Main Street. There will also be an opportunity for parents to socialise and chat over a cuppa.
Both clubs (Teenies and Juniors) launched this week with teenies getting underway on Wednesday, while the Juniors group started today (Thursday).
