TODAY (Thursday) marks the opening of two super colleges serving the southside and surrounding areas.
Glasgow Clyde College — a merger between Langside, Anniesland and Cardonald — opens its doors to a student body of 20,000, operating across the three campuses and led by principal Susan Walsh.
West College Scotland — a merge of Clydebank, James Watt (Inverclyde) and Reid Kerr — also launches today.
Education secretary Michael Russell said: “This is an exciting time for our college sector with students and employers reaping the benefits. The scale of these new colleges and the combined expertise will provide a stimulus for economic growth.”
