East Renfrewshire’s young leaders are being recognised for their dedication to their schools.
Head boys and girls were honoured at a recent prizegiving, where they received awards and certificates.
The ceremony, held at Eastwood House in Giffnock, included pupils from Eastwood High, Woodfarm, St Luke’s, St Ninian’s, Williamwood, Barrhead, Mearns Castle and Isobel Mair School.
The ceremony is held annually to recognise the contribution head boys and girls make to school life.
The 17 pupils received glass trophies from councillor Elaine Green and certificates from Mhairi Shaw, ERC’s director of education.
During the prizegiving, Councillor Green and Councillor Paul O’Kane paid tribute to the senior pupils’ achievements since being elected to their roles.
Activities undertaken ranged from setting up fundraisers to organising school yearbooks.
Councillor Green told The Extra: “These young people have been outstanding in their duties.
“Their achievements are second to none and the roles will stand them in excellent stead as they go on to their lives beyond school”
“I wish them well for their future.”
