A GROUP of fifth year pupils at Craigholme school have shown they’re made of tough stuff, having achieved gold standard Duke of Edinburgh awards.
The team consisted of senior pupils Sheena Bell, Kirsten Buchan, Rebecca Deas, Ella Gilchrist, Kirstie Hardie, Heather Mackie and Kirsty McGhee.
The girls recently completed their gold expedition assessment, by taking part in a gruelling 50 mile camping expedition over four days.
The challenge is intended to test the determination and resilience of those taking part, and the Craigholme girls were commended by their assessor on their ‘excellent team work, organisational skills and good humour throughout’.
But the determined youngsters were happy to see home again, as, when asked what the highlight of the trip was, Sheena said: “The end — the chips at the end!”
The seven-strong team follow in the footsteps of eleven of the Pollokshields school’s S6 pupils, who completed the same award in their final year.
