EAST Renfrewshire welcomed the Scottish parliamentary cross party group on a tour of the area last week.
The group, launched in spring this year, aims to analyse current policies and develop new ideas to provide an economic boost to the country’s town centres.
Organised by East Renfrewshire and Renfrewshire councils and the Scotland’s Towns Partnership, the group visited Barrhead, Clarkston, Neilston and Paisley.
ERC leader Jim Fletcher, provost Alastair Carmichael and councillors Tony Buchanan and Gordon McCaskill joined cross party group convener Margaret McCulloch MS on the tour.
The MSP said: “It is crucial to take this timely opportunity in the light of the recent recommendations of the Scottish Towns Review, to discuss challenges and opportunities being faced on the ground, and how we might learn from these, to help create vibrant towns right across Scotland.”
