East Renfrewshire Labour Councillors, an MSP, and the GMB trade union were protesting outside the Scottish Parliament about further SNP Government Cuts totalling £350 million for all Councils in Scotland.

Cllr Ian McAlpine, Cllr Jim Fletcher, Cllr Alan Lafferty, Cllr Elaine Green, MSP Ken Macintosh and GMB trade Union rep Anne Dean were concerned about the damage now being done to essential public services in East Renfrewshire.

Cllr Ian McAlpine said: “Let’s invest in East Renfrewshire Council and give us the money we need for our excellent Schools and Education Services.

“Let’s end the eight year Council Tax freeze and bring to an end the austerity cuts.

“I hope the SNP Government and Finance Minister John Swinney will listen. East Renfrewshire will need to find new cuts and savings of £8.5 million in the next two years. This is on top of £32 millions worth of difficult savings already made by East Renfrewshire Council since 2011. Enough is Enough.“
