And it was a hat-trick of victories for East Ren in this annual track and field event, held at the ON-X Sports Centre in Linwood.
The East Renfrewshire pupils had a clean sweep, winning all boys’ and girls’ age groups in the event which had been resurrected after the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The final team scores were – East Renfrewshire, 904; Renfrewshire, 624 and Inverclyde, 446. Out of a possible 54 events, East Renfrewshire won 36, including all relays races.
The local athletes were led by the Active Schools team from East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure whose team leader, Barry Cook, said: “The county championships are now firmly back on the calendar as an annual athletics event.
“It’s a fantastic achievement to win this highly competitive event for the third year running and my congratulations go to all the athletes from our schools who have won medals or taken part.
“My thanks also go to the Active Schools teams from the three local authorities and our local athletics club partners for their brilliant work in organising the competition and the effort they put in.”
