Police are asking drivers to keep bags and purses out of sight when leaving their car parked.

Giffnock police are warning car owners to be vigilant after a series of thefts from cars in the carpark at Greenbank Gardens off Mearns Road.

Community police say there have been three thefts in as many weeks of goods and money in plain sight.

A spokesman told The Extra: “In three separate incidences, a purse, a handbag and a rucksack with personal goods and around £200 in cash have been stolen. The thief or thieves broke into the cars as the goods were left on display in the car or on the seat or dashboard. These thefts are opportunistic and preventable. Don’t leave good on display in your car.”
