A four-year-old from the southside had her dream wish granted when she travelled to Lapland and met Santa Claus.
Aimee Conn from Crookston was diagnosed with a very rare form of eye cancer – retinoblastoma - and after lengthy treatments at Birmingham Children’s Hospital is finally in remission.
And, because she was now well enough, the brave wee fighter was treated to a magical trip to Lapland, courtesy of national charity When You Wish Upon a Star.
Snowball fights, sleigh rides, a visit to the magical forest and that special meeting with Santa were all part of the visit for 50 brave children living with life-threatening illnesses.
The trip gives children time out from painful treatments and allows them to build up some magical memories with their families away from hospitals, clinics and, in some cases, hospices.
Aimee’s mum Lyndsey said: “Aimee is now in remission, which is fabulous news for us all, especially following a period of intense treatment in Birmingham, which is so far from home.
“Being able to take Aimee to Lapland is the ultimate silver lining following the time she has had and she was very excited to meet Santa.”
