East Renfrewshire Council estimates that the event generated £403,000 for the local economy in its first year, and £1,190,400 regionally in 2014 as visitors flocked to the park and surrounding areas.

And in 2016, restaurants across East Ren will be hoping to top this figure by offering special offers throughout January and February to all ticket holders.

Offers will range from kids eating free to 10 or 20 per cent discounts, and they can be used multiple times.

In Giffnock, Andiamo, Catch, Ian Brown, Pane e Vino, the Redhurst Hotel, TriBeCa and Whole Foods are participating. Clarkston eateries Dandy’s Delicatessen, Carters at the Busby Hotel, JJ & Olive and Something will also take part, as well as the Eglinton Arms and Swan Inn in Eaglesham, and Indian Platform, Primavera and The Osprey in Newton Mearns.

A ERC spokeswoman said: “Tickets to Electric Glen, the must-see event of winter 2016, would make a fantastic Christmas present and are on sale now.

“The creative director is world renowned Phil Supple, who designed the lighting for the ceramic poppy installation at The Tower of London, teaming up with the production company headed by Derek Allan of Allan Associates, and Phil O’Halloran from NL Productions, whose credits include The Enchanted Forest in Pitlochry.

“Together the trio will turn Rouken Glen Park into a magical night time adventure, and will showcase the diverse natural beauty of the park at night.”
