Police are trying to trace the owner of a Ford Mondeo

Police Scotland have arrested a 78-year-old man following a hit and run incident in Eaglesham.

Around 4pm on Monday, February 15, a 36 year old man was cycling west through Eaglesham onto Moors Road when a vehicle struck him from behind. The impact threw him from the bike onto a grass verge.

The victim was taken to Hairmyres Hospital with serious back and leg injuries and was later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. He has since been released.

Oficers today confirmed that they had detained an elederly man in connection with the incident.
