A Pollokshaws man appeared in court yesterday for sentencing following a police raid on his home which recovered indecent images of children.

John Alister McIntosh, 54, from Greenview Street in the southside suburb, was charged with taking or permitting to be taken, indecent images of children between April 20 and June 8, 2016 at his home address.

When specialist officers attended the property on June 8 last year armed with a warrant, they forced entry and seized electronic equipment belonging to McIntosh.

When this was examined it contained material said by procurator fiscal depute, John Bedford, to be of a category A status – the very worst.

McIntosh pleaded guilty to all the charges at Glasgow Sheriff Court earlier this year and yesterday received a two-year Community Payback Order with supervision, 200 hours of unpaid work to be completed within 12 months and was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for a two-year period also.
