Officers from Police Scotland are actively investigating an allegation that a female was raped within a flat in Govanhill.

Police Scotland is appealing for witnesses after a woman was subjected to serious sexual assault within a flat in Dixon Avenue, Glasgow, in the early hours of Sunday, October 30.

Detective Inspector Graeme McLachlan said: “Enquiries are at an early stage to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this incident and officers are currently examining CCTV footage and speaking to local residents.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area in the early hours of Sunday morning who may have seen anything suspicious to get in touch.

“Anyone with information can contact officers at Greater Glasgow’s Public Protection Unit via 101 or alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where details can be given anonymously.”

Witnesses spoke to the street having been sealed off as forensic officers undertook a detailed search of the location, and that officers have been engaged in door-to-door enquiries as well as checking CCTV images.
