Murder investigation launched into death of Shawlands man

A murder inquiry has been launched following the death of a man in the Shawlands area of Glasgow.

Around 10.25pm on Wednesday, November 7, emergency services were informed of a man having been assaulted in Greenview Street, Shawlands.

On arrival, Owen Hassan (30) was found with serious injuries and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he died a very short time after admission.

Relatives are aware and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Detective Inspector Graham MacKellar of the Major Investigation Teams (West) said: “This was an extremely violent assault and at this time we are trying to establish the exact circumstances and motive for such an attack.

“Officers are currently viewing CCTV and speaking to local people in the area in an attempt to gather more information.

“I appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Greenview Street around 10.20pm on Wednesday, November 7, and either witnessed Mr Hassan being assaulted, or perhaps saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area, to come forward.”
