Police are this week carrying out door to door enquiries in Strathbungo, after burglars looted a safe containing a four-figure sum from a local bar-restaurant.
The raid was staged at around 6.30am on Monday, when the criminals broke into The Bungo in Nithsdale Road through the back door.
Management later said on Facebook: “Two men broke in the back door and got into the office where they managed to lift the whole safe and make away with it into a car in the back lane.
“If anyone saw anything can they please contact us or go directly to the police on 101.
“There must have been quite a lot of noise as they had to use a crowbar to get in.”
Nobody was in the premises at the time.
Besides interviewing local residents police have been reviewing CCTV images from Nithsdale Road,
They say enquiries have so far revealed that at the time of the break-in two men and a dark-coloured car were in a layby near the bar.
These men have been urged to get in touch, as they could have significant information which could help the investigation.
Anyone with information is urged to call officers at Gorbals Police Office via 101.
Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
