Bodies found in Muirend flat

A HUSBAND and wife found dead in their Muirend flat have been named by police as George and Betsy Garcia.

Strathclyde Police officers, CID and a forensic team attended the scene at Crathes Court on Monday morning at 9.30am, where the bodies of the 68-year-old male and 65-year-old female were discovered.

A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police confirmed the names of the couple and added that relatives had been made aware of the situation.

A post mortem is due to take place to establish a cause of death for each, and enquiries are ongoing – however, officers have said that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with either death.

Police have also ruled out a suicide pact between the couple.

The top floor flat near Glasgow Hutchesons’ Aloysians rugby club is part of a sheltered housing complex, which provides wardens on site for people aged 55 and over.

A report is to be submitted to the procurator fiscal, and no further information was available as The Extra went to press.
