Assault in park

POLICE are searching for two suspect after a man was seriously assaulted in Govanhill park last week.

The man (30) was sitting in the park with his 26-year-old friend around 4.50pm on Tuesday, June 12 when he was approached by two men and a woman.

One of the men hit the victim around the face with an object and his friend was also attacked.

The 30-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment to cuts on his head, but has since been discharged.

His friend was also injured but did not need medical attention.

Detective constable Chris Sneddon, of Gorbals CID, is urging witnesses to come forward.

He Said: “There were lots of people in the park at the time of the attack.

“I’d appeal to anyone who saw what happened to come forward.

“At this time we have no motive”.

The suspects made off in the direction of Cuthbertson Street.

They men are described as being in their late 30s to early 40s.

One was wearing a navy blue jumper and jeans, the other a green jumper and jeans.

The woman is aged around 30 with shoulder-length, brown hair and wearing what is believed to be a dark, Superdry jacket with red writing.
