THE ladies of East Renfrewshire have been scaling new heights for charity recently.

The Extra’s own Fiona Davidson, from Clarkston, joined Deborah Johnston, Lucille McGeachy and Lisa Mair on a trek to the top of Ben Lomond, in aid of the West of Scotland Deaf Children’s Society.

Friends Rhona Dickson, Sharon Stern, Jennifer Stern, Lesley Terris and Suzanne Brown also tackled the mountain for the children’s charity.

It’s the latest in a series of fundraising challenges for Rhona (51), also from Clarkston, who braved a zip slide across the Clyde this month in aid of Cancer Care Scotland, following a breast cancer diagnosis in 2010.

She told The Extra: “I feel blessed to be alive and well and able to do these things, and I like to raise money for charities that will help other people enhance their lives.”

Both groups raised a combined total of £515 for their two chosen charities.
