Giffnock Tennis young star Liam Coyle travelled to Bolton last weekend for a National Tour Event. The nine-year-old won a pair of regional tournaments recently to qualify for the event.

Competing for medals in the tournament were most of the UK’s top young players.

During a gruelling day, Liam performed well with a record of three wins and three losses.

Of his six matches, five went to three sets —showing his ability to compete with the best. Liam lost narrowly against UK’s nine and below number four Oliver Burton and sixth ranked Cameron Isbell.

He went on to beat 11th ranked Adam Bolchover from Cheshire.

Liam said “ I now know the level I would like to aspire to. I will continue to practice to further improve my game and would like to thank the club for their support”

Liam has until April before moving up to the 10 and under age group where he will play on a full size tennis court.
