GREEN fingered youngsters showed off their talents at the Mearns Horticultural Society’s 66th spring show last weekend.

The event, held in Mearns primary on Saturday, received 433 entries from local schools, including bulbs grown by the children, as well as lots of poems and drawings.

Charles Murray, of the horticultural society, said: “After a particularly mild winter, there were some good examples of spring bulbs — making for a colourful display”.

The Mearns group is one of the last few in Scotland to host an annual spring show.
