A touching tribute from young writer

BUDDING writer Craig Carden reduced members of Eastwood Rotary to tears with a letter on the subject of peace.

The St Ninian’s second year was one of 56 East Ren pupils to enter the club’s inaugural Young Writers competition, and he scooped the first place trophy with a letter on the death of his grandma.

Donald Montgomery, who led the judging panel, praised the quality of work submitted, but it was Craig’s letter, read out at the meeting alongside mum Karen, which left “barely a dry eye in the house”.
