A right royal birthday

THERE was a royal celebrations in Newton Mearns on Sunday.

Mona Aronson celebrated her 100th birthday by receiving a message from the Queen.

Born in Glasgow on May 20, 1912, Mona and her family moved to Sunderland when she was only two years old.

After meeting Charles Aronson, they married in 1945 and moved to the southside of Glasgow where they lived all their married lives.

For the past four and a half years, Mona has at the Westacres Care Home in Newton Mearns.

Mona was surrounded by her family of son Clive his wife, Wendy, and their son Jacob when she was given the royal message by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant for Renfrewshire James Wardrop.
