THERE’S a showing of the work of Glasgow-based sculptor Nick Evans coming to the Tramway.
Named Solar Eyes, it is an ambitious collection from the Glasgow School of Art-trained artist.
Evans is displaying this newly-commissioned work which is described as part sculpture theme park and part lost civilisation.
Motifs from ancient and lost worlds are recurrent themes — much of the work incorporates aspects of Mayan, Egyptian and prehistoric symbolism.
Solar Eyes features new body plaster sculptures, the most ambitious of which is a complex which mimics the geometry of a Mayan temple.
A key theme of the exhibition is the solar eye of Egyptian mythology.
n Solar Eyes is on at the Tramway from February 1 to March 31 and is supported by Creative Scotland and The Henry Moore Foundation.
