Southern comfortable

GLASGOW will give a big southern-style to American performers 3 Doors Down next Friday.

The Mississippi rockers will play the 02 Academy with all the energy that has made them mini-legends in the US and across Europe.

Formed in 1996, the band comprises of Brad Arnold (vocals), Matt Roberts (guitar/vocals), Todd Harrell (bass), Chris Henderson (guitar) and Greg Upchurch (drums/percussion).

The band fairly blasted their way onto the American music scene when their debut single, Kryptonite, made the top three of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

And since then the group have hardly stopped to draw breath, with extensive touring amounting to some 300 gigs per year.

They have also sold some 13 million albums since the first release — The Better Life.

But, as rough and tough as these rock stars are, they have a gentler side which they are happy to promote.

Back in 2003, the group started The Better Life Foundation which tries to give as many children as possible a better life.

The foundation has helped support various charities in the US and provided aid and assistance to the Gulf Coast region of Mississippi in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

An annual fundraising gig sees the band play in Biloxi and bring in some famous faces such as Lynyrd Skynyrd and Staind to help raise cash.

Tough rockers with tender hearts.
