THE city takes a welcome step back in time when Scottish rock legends Big Country performs.

And this is a special gig for the lads as it is part of their 30th anniversary tour.

With that in mind, Big Country will play all the tracks from their debut album, The Crossing.

In announcing the Crossing the Country Tour, bassist Tony Butler said: “It’s typical to write an album and only play a few songs from it, so to get the opportunity to play an entire album is very cool.

“This tour will give us the chance to play songs never performed before alongside the well-known ones, songs that were written but didn’t make it onto the album and the associated ‘B’ side material.

“We can’t wait”.

Last November 19, the band received the inaugural Pride of Scotland award at the annual Nordoff Robbins Tartan Clef event in Glasgow.

Big Country reformed with The Alarm’s Mike Peters providing vocals in place of the late Stuart Adamson, who died in 2001, and played two sold-out UK tours and main stage festival appearances including the Isle of Wight festival, T in the Park, Oxegen and V festival during last year.

Mike Peters said: “Due to the success of the January and April tours, the band have decided to continue”.

Band member Bruce Watson added: “We are 100 per cent dedicated and intent on making this line-up a permanent one.

“We can finally look forward to completing unfinished business from the past, particularly internationally, and look to a creative and active future”.

In addition, the band re-unitied with The Crossing’s produced Steve Lillywhite to release their first single in 12 years, Another Country.

Big Country play the Barrowlands on Monday, February 6. Tickets cost £22.50.
