THE King’s Theatre highlights some home-grown talent this week as it stages a production of Benjamin Britten’s operatic take on A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The production features the talents of students from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

It’s is a revival of the 2005 critically-acclaimed staging by Olivia Fuchs at the Royal Opera House Linbury Studio.

The piece will give the students the opportunity to flex their operatic muscles in a show which is teeming with a diversity of parts – ranging from the comedic to the dramatic.

Joining the cast in the role of Puck is aerial artist Jami Quarrell, who performed in the original production and who trained at the Ecole Internationale de Theatre Jacques Lecoq and at the Ecole Internationale de Mimodrame de Paris Marcel Marceau.

Adapted from Shakespeare’s play, Britten’s version of Dream centres on the ethereal world of the fairies rather than the human action at the heart of the original.

Performances January 31 and February 1 at the King’s* - 7.15pm start. Tickets £15.50-£23.50.

*Correction: this performance takes place at the King’s Theatre, not at the Theatre Royal as stated in this week’s Extra. We apologise for any confusion caused.
