Eastwood Park will be producing something a little different in the coming week as documentary film maker Chris Leslie makes his way to the theatre.

The photographer will screen a film of his project about four stories of the regeneration of Glasgow.

Elements of Mr Leslie's work have been on display at the centre all summer but this showing will include a special reception, screening and chance to meet the man himself.

The tales of Hope, memories, loss and community originally formed the basis of a photography display, but as he delved deeper into the subjects, the director began work on a documentary.

While taking photographs of the four differing areas of Glasgow, he began to meet the people who lived there and started to interview them, giving residents an opportunity to tell their stories.

The 36-year-old told Live: "The people I met had such an interesting viewpoint and seeing Glasgow through their eyes was very revealing.

"The more I worked on the project the more I began asking myself if change is really for the better. That question is at the heart of this work".

The piece is somewhat of a homecoming for the Glaswegian as his photography has taken him all around the globe, most recently to Bosnia and Nepal.

A recent graduate himself, he has also had the opportunity of late to stand at the other side of the lectern as he held screenings at Glasgow and Strathclyde universities, as well as the Glasgow School of Art.

But now the general public has a chance to see the artist in action.

The regeneration and change in Glasgow is shown through the individual stories of Sighthill, Oatlands, Paddy's market and Dalmarnock.

The creator added: "The stories of Oatlands and Sighthill particularly resonate with the audience because of the fact that these high rise flats have either disappeared entirely or been reduced to rubble

"Meanwhile, the Dalmarnock documentary illustrates a woman fighting eviction from her home because the commonwealth games village is being built there".

Hope, memories, loss and community exhibits next Thursday at 7pm, followed by a reception with the director. It's free to attend.
