Peter Parker prepare for lift-off
GLASGOW quartet Peter Parker are having a busy weekend - as they prepare to launch their debut single.
Southside-based label Lucky Number Nine and westenders Say Dirty Records have joined forces to release Swallow the Rockets on Monday (July 6).
And to celebrate, the band will preview the single on Sunday night (July 5) with a gig at the Captain's Rest, 185 Great Western Road from 8pm.
Named after Spider-man's alter-ego, the group is fast picking up a strong reputation for noisy, fun performances and the line up has the history and experience to back that up.
Joint frontwomen Roz Davies and Jane McKeown have both tasted success in the past.
Vocalist and guitarist Roz once played bass for Josephine, a now-defunct Glasgow act which charmed the ears of no less than the late John Peel.
And bassist Jane was a member of Lungleg, a signing for American label Southern Records. Her brother John is a member of the 1990s, so there's music running through the family.
Now working together, the pair have developed a knack for writing uncomplicated, punchy and catchy pop songs – without even having to use their Spidey senses. Swallow the Rockets is a case in point - a perfectly punchy single which could fill dancefloors in seconds.
Swallow the Rockets will be in stores as a seven-inch disc and also available as a digital download, with details at Peter Parker's MySpace page.
