Doors open across the Southside
CHURCHES, schools and even a hidden garden are among southside attractions to visit during doors open day.
The annual architecture festival next weekend is for the curious who may have wondered what lies behind some intriguing portals.
Battlefield east church is welcoming guests on September 19 from 10am and Mosspark parish church on the same day from 1pm.
Or take a trip to Pollokshields church of Scotland where every window is made of stained glass.
Queen's park parish church, St Ninian's episcopal church and 100-year-old south Shawlands parish church will also open from 10am.
Visit Hazelwood school to see the fantastic architecture that won it a Civic Trust award last year. Project artist Alan Dunlop will give talks hourly talks from 10am about the development.
And guides to the new main teaching building of Langside college are available from 10am.
Designed by Glasgow architect Alexander (ITALS) Greek Thomson, 1 to 10 Moray Place has been described as the finest of all Grecian terraces.
It will be open from 1pm and another of Thomson's finest, Holmwood House, will be open from 11am.
Visit House for an Art Lover from 10am or take a guided tour of all three Govan baths from the same time.
Also vying for your attention is The Galgael Trust HQ in Fairley Street where wooden boats are built – and sailed.
Hen there's a bus tour of Pollokshields and Dumbreck timed to depart Maxwell Park station from 10am.
A highland cattle show is an extra bonus at Pollok park where visitors can also visit elegant Pollok house which is in the care of the National Trust for Scotland.
Or take a guided tour of Pollokshaws burgh hall including its clock tower. The A-listed building also has a mighty Wurlitzer organ and there may even be a recital on the day.
Head along to Scottish Ballet at Tramway for its first public opening. A full programme of tours and activities will be developed for the day.

Finally, you could join the Langside heritage walk and learn about the history of the area. Meet at Langside library at 10am on the Saturday or 1pm on the Sunday.
