A night at
the ballet

LEAVES are turning, nights are drawing in, and in the arts world it can only mean one thing – Scottish Ballet’s autumn programme.
The company presents a triple bill in Glasgow today (Thursday), with performances planned until Saturday, when the dance moves east to Edinburgh.
First up is Run For It, a high energy piece inspired by the power of Olympic athletes.
The piece, first shown at the Cultural Olympiad during the summer, features music from John Adams and the intriguing promise of sculptural set designs by Turner Prize winner (and Scot) Martin Boyce.
Workwithinwork follows — a 1998 study of motion, choreographed by William Forsythe and presenting dancers as a display of angles and lines.
And finally, a fusion of technical ballet and sensual movement as Scottish Ballet present, for the first time, Hans van Manen’s 5 Tangos.
Billed as a fiery close “with the passion and dramatic flourishes of the tango” — it may be just the thing to warm you up before heading out into the autumn night.
