REGARDLESS of when you were born, chances are you’ve encountered Beatrix Potter’s cotton-tailed hero.

It’s been over a century since Peter Rabbit first burrowed under Mr McGregor’s gate, but the brave little bunny has delighted generations of children since.

Peter returned to the public eye this year thanks to actress Emma Thompson, who swapped lines of dialogue for lines of prose to write a brand new tale for Potter’s most famous character.

The southside’s own Scotland Street school museum has been celebrating Peter’s return to form with an exhibition of original artwork, and this week, youngsters are invited to create their own.

To coincide with the exhibition, Peter Rabbit’s Box of Secrets will take place on Saturday, allowing budding artists and authors aged 5-12 to create their own story or comic strip.

The event (Saturday, 1-5pm) is free — as is the exhibition — and who knows? Maybe the next Peter Rabbit writer is waiting in the Glasgow wings...
