Motown is revived for one night only.

YOU may have heard it through ther grapevine, but the rumours are true, the magic of Motown is coming to Glasgow.

On Friday, at the Theatre Royal from 7.30pm a selection of 36 back-to-back massive Motown hits will be performed in an all new show for 2013.

Show producer Michael Taylor said: “Five-star performances authentically revive the style and sophistication of all the Detroit legends.

““There’s dazzling dance moves and glittering costumes galore, plus the incredible Magic of Motown band, tighter than Motown’s house band the Funk Brothers in their prime.”

“This year marks 50 years of number one hits from the world’s favourite record label”.

Hits by the Temptations, Supremes, Four Tops, Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Lionel Richie and more feature in the hit concert show.

In 1963 Motown was regularly topping the charts in the States. Heat Wave by Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, You Really Got a Hold On Me by The Miracles, It Should’ve Been Me by Kim Weston and Can I Get a Witness by Marvin Gaye paved the way for the label’s meteoric rise to become the most influential and successful record label of all time.

Michael added: “Sadly, many of the original Motown legends are either no longer with us or no longer touring. The Magic of Motown is the nearest you’ll get to authentically capturing their incredible musical legacy in a live show.

“Our young cast is able to reflect the exuberance and excitement of these songs as they were originally performed.”

To mark the occasion, The Magic of Motown is preparing to sign, seal and deliver its biggest production ever in its ten-year history with the planned tour taking in 100 prestigious venues - including Glasgow

Male lead Andre Lejaune says that the cast has rehearsed an all-new arena show for 2013 to celebrate this golden anniversary.

He told Live: ““With many new numbers added to our already hit-packed show we needed to ensure the choreography was right on point,” says the talented Floridian singer.

“The show is called The Magic of Motown for a reason, it’s our job to ensure theatregoers have a truly magical night to remember”.
