Do the reggae

FOR a man credited with giving Reggae its name — a man who first came to prominence in the 60s — Jamacian musician Toots Hibbert shows no signs of slowing down.

The often leather-clad singer and his Maytals are back in Glasgow next Friday (August 10), showcasing five decades-worth of gospel, ska, soul, rock and — of course — original reggae beats.

The group are returning to Glasgow after a well-received performance at the O2 Academy last year.

If the same bopping, chanting crowds turn out for this month’s show then it’s a gig worth catching – although comfortable shoes are recommended for what’s sure to be a lively night.

And who knows, those sun-drenched reggae beats might bring some well-deserved summer weather our way too.

Toots and the Maytals perform at the O2 ABC on August 10. doors open 7pm and tickets cost £24, from 332 2232.
