WHAT is it with tribute bands? They seems to just come out of the woodwork at any given moment.
Mind you, saying that, Bjorn Again are a band with a fair track pedigree and, whether you like the original or not, there’s no doubting Abba’s success and their place in the history of popular music.
From Abba the Musical to the worldwide success of Mamma Mia!, there just seems to be no getting away from the Swedish quartet.
But, as a band, they are no more and the next best thing for fans is this tribute which has been hailed several times over the years by Abba members Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson.
All the old hits will be performed such as Mamma Mia, Fernando, Waterloo, Dancing Queen, Voulez-Vous and Super Trouper.
At one point, Benny Andersson is quoted as saying: “Bjorn Again are the closest you can get to seeing Abba. Abba will never reform”.
Tomorrow may be the next best thing.
Bjorn Again play the main auditorium of the Royal Concert Hall (with support from Stavros Flatley) on Friday with tickets costing between £20 and £25.
