Newton Mearns shopping centre, The Avenue, has raised £2000 to support Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital and Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

As part of its charity weekend, activities included a family fun day on Saturday with live music, face painting, a magician, a live charity auction in partnership with McTears Auctioneers, and more.

On Sunday an outdoor cinema showing Despicable Me and Grease took place within car park with proceeds from ticket sales going straight to Great Ormond Street and Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

One Great Day was established in 2014 and has so far raised over £250,000 for 93 different children’s charities along with Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.

Michelle McCabe, centre manager of The Avenue, said: “I am delighted to announce that we raised £2000 over the course of our One Great Day weekend. Thanks to all our customers who attended our events across the weekend and generously donated to these two very worthwhile causes.”
