EASTER Sunday came to a close with a packed concert at Newton Mearns Baptist church.
More than 400 people attended the event, where a community choir performed a wide variety of songs to raise money for the new Isobel Mair School and family Centre in Newton Mearns.
Mosaic Gospel Glee raised £900 and was the finale to a month-long set of events the church held in the lead-up to Easter.
Inspired by both the Glee TV Series and Gareth Malone’s Miiitary Wives/The Choir projects, a 50-strong choir of all ages performed a series of songs.
Included in the set list was an Adele Medley, a Beatles Medley, Karl Jenkins’ very popular Benedictus, My Heart Will Go On (from Titanic) and a number of Easter Hymns.
Musical Director for Mosaic Gospel Glee, Martin Kelly told The Extra: “Every Church should be engaging with its community and as a new neighbour, we felt that it was important to forge new links with Isobel Mair School.
“ Forming a choir is a great way of bringing people together”.It is hoped that we can do more events like this
