Funding for memorials

VETERANS groups and community organisations are invited to apply for funding to preserve Scotland’s war monuments.

The Scottish government’s new centenary memorial restoration fund has been allocated £1 million.

West of Scotland MSP Stewart Maxwell is encouraging East Renfrewshire groups to submit an application.

He said: “I have written to East Ren council encouraging them to put forward nominations, and I would also encourage any other local organisations or owners of war memorials to contact Historic Scotland for further information on how to apply.”
