Or so the song goes.

It seems as though the world of music is either controlled by X Factor winners or tribute bands.

By and large, and as long as they are faithful to the original, no one minds tribute acts really.

The key word is tribute and not jumping-on-the-bandwagon.

One of the most successful post-Beatles bands Britain has ever produced is Pink Floyd.

The original band was born back in 1963 and became extremely influential in the art-rock scene.

This tribute band comes from down under and is called The Australian Pink Floyd Show.

It has sold more than 3 million tickets worldwide and the band have created an incredible show for this year’s Exposed in the Light dates.

Following the sold-out dates earlier this year, and taking its title from the lyrics of Pink Floyd classic track, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, the band are keeping quiet about the format of the Exposed in the Light tour — but the scale and ambition of the group is well documented.

n The Australian Pink Floyd Show is at the SECC Clyde Auditorium on February 27 and tickets are priced at £29.50.

OASIS fans are quick to tell you – you’re either in team Liam or team Noel.

The louder of the two Gallagher brothers may have found sauntering into the solo spotlight a bit easier – Liam’s band Beady Eye have been garnering support from die-hard fans for a while now, and gigs have proved popular with the Glasgow crowd (not to mention the musician’s fashion line, Pretty Green, which opened a swish Merchant City branch last year).

But now it’s Noel’s turn to take on Scotland’s music capital, as the former Britpopper and his High Flying Birds arrive at the SECC tomorrow (Friday) night.

When asked where the band’s name comes from, the singer explained that he prefixed his own name to it while listening to the album Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac – and that the avian part was taken from a song by Jefferson Airplane.

Leaving aside the fact that his brother is supposed to be the one with the ego (yet there’s no sign of Liam Gallagher’s Beady Eye), Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds have achieved commercial success so far, with single If I Had a Gun making it into a Vauxhall advert (as a result, even non-fans would know it if they heard it).

The arena tour follows a sold-out run in November, after the launch of a debut album last summer – and this time, Noel promises songs from that as well as a few of his own “classics”.

New single Dream On might also rank high, as it’s due for release on March 12, as well a b-side called Shoot a Hole in the Sun.

What won’t be heard for a while yet is second album Amorphous Androgynous, originally planned for release in 2012, but now held back until the following year, with Noel claiming that it’s “not a great record” yet and won’t come out until it is.

Regardless, dedicated fans of Oasis and new Noel followers will no doubt flock to the SECC show — although whether they’ll be wearing the rival brother’s Pretty Green line polo shirts remains to be seen.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds play the SECC on Friday, with support from Reverend and the Makers. Doors open at 7pm, and tickets start at £37.50 (Box office on 0844 395 4000)
