KARATE-kicking youngsters, Sam Morris (13) from Waterfoot and Scott McKerlich (13) from Stamperland, have just returned from the first Kobe Osaka Dutch international, held in Apledoorn, Holland.

Represented were eight countries from around the world, with more than 250 entries in the competition.

Despite an elbow injury, Sam won a silver medal in the Kata for his category at this event. Scott did fantastically well by clinching gold in the fighting section of only his second international competition.

He had five really good fights and escaped without injury.

Steve Morris sixth Dan who has been coaching the pair said: "They have both been training hard and did very well. I am extremely proud of them".

Sam's next big event will be next month in the Kobe-Osaka world karate championship in Italy.
