Athletics success for Cathcart youngster

YOUNG Cameron Brown from Cathcart scooped a bumper prize haul after finishing as overall winner in the 9/11 year old group at a ScottishPower youth athletics event.
The meeting in George Square, Glasgow on August 23 to coincided with the end of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

More than 100 children aged between nine and 13 competed and received expert training from Commonwealth athletes in a number of events, including sprinting, javelin throwing, shot putting and the long jump.

As the winner, Cameron received shopping vouchers for Greaves Sports and an iPod.
